Fact sheet - International Association of Deposit Insurers

The objectives of the Association are to contribute to the stability of financial systems by promoting international cooperation in the field of deposit insurance and to encourage wide international contact among deposit insurers and other interested parties. In particular, the Association aims to:

Membership

Members are entities that, under law or agreements, provide deposit insurance, depositor protection or deposit guarantee arrangements as set out in the Association's Statutes.

In addition, the Association welcomes:

Currently, 50 organisations worldwide participate in IADI.

Governance

The governing bodies of the IADI are the General Meeting of Members and the Executive Council. The Executive Council governs the business and affairs of the IADI. A Conference is held on an annual basis. Furthermore, in 2004, regional conferences have been organised in Kyoto, Kiev, Abuja, and Mexico City.

Secretariat

John Raymond LaBrosse is the Secretary General. The Head Office, located at the BIS, is staffed by the Deputy Secretary General, Kim Utnegaard.

Standing committees

In 2004, the IADI issued two guidance papers, on Deposit Insurance Systems Design and Differential Premium Systems.

Website: IADI’s website www.iadi.org contains guidance papers, annual and regional conference information, member profiles and newsletters, as well as training catalogues.

IADI’s participating organisations have access to a “Members Only” site.
